Men do the same. It is just how corporates are—character assassination to right the wrong. I do not think the writer is much of a pal to him. Otherwise, he would have said something to help him process his experience. I do not think he should spend energy on destroying anything, but healing and moving on. Wouldn’t you think it is the best revenge to heal of work somewhere that appreciate him and away from toxic past?
